Wedding Chicks

When I found out that Wedding Chicks picked up our styled shoot for their blog, I was incredibly excited! I signed onto this project in December, the shoot took place in June and we found out it was going to be published on the Wedding Chicks blog in July. But the catch?? It was being featured until August 23 which meant that we had to hide these gorgeous photos for a whole other month! The suspense was killing me but it was well worth the wait.

And let's get real, how talented is Jennifer Weinman and those amazing photography skills!? I was blown away when I first saw these photos. She has such an incredible way of capturing moments in a vibrant way. I can't express enough how much I appreciate the community that I've gained!

Let's Flamingle!

I LOVE being a part of our local Rising Tide Society. It has not only introduced me to so many local creatives but reconnected me with old friends as well! Ashlyn Krall, of Loba Design Co., and I go back to the good ole high school days. We were more of acquaintances but her kindness towards me has never been forgotten. I can't think of someone more equipped to start a business with such a strong focus on God's heart.

Ashlyn put together this photo shoot for our Tuesdays Together group. It was so awesome to be a part of this; the photos gave me goosebumps! Nothing makes me happier than see a community come together to achieve a goal together :)

One of my favorite things about getting into hand lettering has been the new friends that I have made! Mandee Matthews has been a perfect example of just that. On top of that, her photography skills are out of this world! We did a collaboration not so long ago that has officially been chosen to be featured in a few blogs (stay tuned!).

Here is a sneak peek of her beautiful photo shoot with the help of some other amazing vendors!

Baby Moran

Baby Moran

My friends are adopting a baby! There are really no words that can properly express just how amazing Mike & Karen are. You immediately see the joy of God in them without them having to say a word. I met this couple while I was in college and I can honestly say that they have played a huge role in my life whether they know it or not. I accepted Jesus in my life during my freshman year of college, shortly after meeting Mike & Karen. It was the first life-defining decision that I had made for myself and there were definitely obstacles to overcome after making that decision. I often found myself looking towards Mike & Karen as examples of just what Jesus is capable of. They consistently display God's love in every aspect of their life especially in their relationship with one another.  I have witnessed their relentless faith in Jesus from every day experiences to bigger challenges which has been such an inspiration for me.

Their baby is already so loved by so many people. Karen asked me to create this piece that will be placed in their baby's future nursery. I was incredibly honored that she thought of me to be a part of their adoption journey. These are lyrics from the song "Daughter" by Sleeping At Last. When I listened to this song for the first time I was almost in tears. It is such a beautiful definition of love. I loved what Karen said to me when she explained why they chose these lyrics. With genuine excitement, she explained that if there were any song that explains God's love for his children, this would be that song. So it's not only a song that expresses the love that they have for their future baby but it's all based on the love that God shows us and that's why they want their child to know. How amazing is that!?

This was my first baby announcement project! Mandee reached out to me to create a surprise sign for a couple that she was doing a photo shoot for. This couple had already overcome a lot so she wanted to make sure that their baby announcement was extra special. I was completely honored that she chose me to create their sign. These lyrics are from one of my very favorite songs by Carrie Underwood called Heartbeat (I'm not much of cryer but this song gets me every dang time!). It was the perfect choice for their announcement. This project meant so much to me and I hope it did for this sweet couple as well!

Side note: I am obsessed with Mandee Matthews' photography! Her work is absolutely stunning and timeless. When I met with her for the first time to give her this sign, I remember thinking that she looked so familiar. Well I did a little research (aka Facebook stalking) and I figured out that we had actually hung out with mutual friends in high school! What are the chances! Mandee is such a talented lady with a heart of gold and I am so honored that she reached out to me for this project :)

Jimithy The Great

Jimithy The Great

Jim Miles is not only one of the most talented creatives that I know but a great friend as well! When I need help with anything from photos to computer troubles, he's got my back. For the photos, we traveled to San Marco in Jacksonville, FL. We weren't sure where to set up the photo shoot so we drove around the cutest neighborhoods looking for a good spot. Just when we were about to give up, the perfect little park appeared!

The day was absolutely perfect for photos! The lighting couldn't have been if we had planned it ourselves. This was my first real photo shoot for my signs. This is when I realized the potential that my lettering had to become something. It was also another realization of how sincerely blessed I am to have the friends that I do. They have encouraged me through so much & pushed me to see the potential in what I am doing. I don't think that I would be in the same place if it weren't for them. Jim took the time to make sure that every sign was captured perfectly. He didn't take any shortcuts or treat the shoot any differently since I was his friend. His work is a genuine sense of art and he takes his photos with such thoughtfulness. These photos gave me a strong foundation to start my portfolio with and to start promoting my work with the intention on growing a business.

I Get By With a Little Help From My Friends

I Get By With a Little Help From My Friends

I don't know what I did to deserve such amazing friends! Katie Brock is one of the most talented gals that I know. She drove us all the way down to Washington Oaks Gardens State Park to take photos for my website on the most beautiful day! Our adventure was complete with life talks, laughter and coffee to top it all off.

If you ever have the chance to visit Washington Oaks Gardens State Park, don't pass it up. I'll be the first to admit that I take "rest" for granted but when you visit Washington Oaks, you can't help but take it all in and feel relaxed. Taking photos there couldn't have been more perfect. Katie and I attended Flagler College in St Augustine together so as we drove through the country's oldest city on our way to our photo shoot, we couldn't help but reminisce on our favorite college memories.

Ever since college, Katie has continued to impress time after time again. Just when you think her amazing skills stop at photography...wait there's more! I've never known a more organized and talented person. No matter what the project, she gives her 110% to every single thing that she takes on and it shows. I always find myself inspired by her incredible talents, gracious heart and ambitious mentality. So grab a tissue and wipe up the tears from my sappy post and take a look at Katie's amazing work ;)

Writings on the Wall

Writings on the Wall

You know as a child, how you would get in trouble for writing on your parent's walls with crayons or makers? I got to do that today & it was on purpose! I was beyond excited when MaryAnn reached out to me to write this quote on her wall. For one, I was honored that someone would hand over that type of trust to a creative. Secondly, it was a quote used by my all time favorite designer Joanna Gaines.

"They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts."

When I was drawing this quote, I thought about the simple joys of eating a meal with one another. Maybe this is supposed to go deeper than that but I love gathering around a table with friends and family, enjoying conversation and laughter. I can't tell you how many times my family and I sat around a table uncontrollably laughing from the memories we would share. Now my sisters and I are moved out so those moments are even sweeter when they happen but just as joyful.

A super special shout out to my bestie Ashley for waking up early and running around town with me to photograph this project! Look at those mad photography skills y'all!

1018 Weddings & Events

So far the only projects that I have done have been for family and friends so doing this project for 1018 Weddings & Events has been a huge milestone for me since they were my first official clients! I am so excited to see how one little Pinterest-craft on a rainy day has grown into a completely unexpected business opportunity.

Lindsay of 1018 Weddings & Events reached out to me asking for a total of 26 signs. There were 3 two-sided chalkboards, 10 palette wood signs and 10 small chalkboard signs for the guest's table. I have discovered that my favorite projects to do are wood signs so naturally I was completely biased to the palette signs. It was a big project but I was so excited to take it on (with a little help from The Bachelor, wine and yoga pants of course)!

The Frandsens

The Frandsens

This could easily be one of the most important posts that I ever create. Ashley is one of my best friends. We have known each other since high school but it wasn't until a few years ago that our level of friendship got bumped up to "my person" status (Grey's Anatomy reference. If you don't know it, you need to stop reading this and Netflix binge asap). We started going to our local church together and quickly bonded over our love for Disney and sushi. We have been inseparable ever since. When Ashley got engaged, I was completely clueless. It's probably one of our favorite memories. Ash and (her what I thought was still her boyfriend) William were waiting for me at Starbucks before church. I walked in only to see Ashley behaving very strangely. Naturally I assumed it was due to her excitement for the return of Starbuck's beloved Pumpkin Spice Latte. When I finally realized that her boyfriend was now her fiancé, I freaked out and immediately started crying which resulted in the barista crying along with us.

As if asking me to be a bridesmaid wasn't exciting enough, she then asked me to hand letter all of the signs for her wedding. This was my first official wedding that I hand lettered. It couldn't have been more perfect that my first real project was for my best friend. Ashley had such a clear and beautiful vision for her wedding signs. My favorite project for her wedding was the sign that included her and William's names, the date of their wedding and a bible verse. They kept this sign and hung it in their apartment for all to see. It gives me goosebumps to know that they not only cherish my work so much but continually encourage me to keep going on this crazy little adventure of mine.
